Over the last 7 months, I've made lots of friends on ActiveRain, and today I noticed I have 53 subscribers to my blog. Gosh am I flattered! Thank you!
One of my favorite ActiveRain connections is my Dad, Stephen Orear. (He's also my real estate partner.) He's slowly learning to navigate his way through the blogworld, and I'm very proud of him. I can still remember when all his leads were on 4x6 index cards. When he needed more room to make notes, he just stapled another card onto the back of the one before it! Things have changed a lot through the years.
On Saturday, August 22nd, Steve turned 60! So my Mom and I threw him a big birthday bash with a catered barbeque and a band! We had family in from out of state and lots of friends, both old and new. Here are some pictures I'd like to share with you:

For those of you who are in our office, don't be shy - be sure to hassle the guy about his birthday...and stop by in the lunchroom - there's leftover chocolate cake! We're havin' fun in the Rain in Northern Nevada!

Christianne - How lucky are you to have your Dad as your real estate partner. Please wish him a Happy Birthday. Love the tractor by the way - I guess it is the farm girl in me. :D
Christianne - Happy Birthday to your dad. I did not know your dad was on Active Rain. That is so cool that your dad is blogging.
Christianne,
How great is that? I too worked with my Dad selling real estate (for about 12 years) before he retired and now is a permanent vacationeer!
Happy Birthday Dad!
Hey Christianne ~ I knew you dad was an AR member but I never new your mom was!!! Keeping it in the family...that is terrific!
Chjristianne - Happy Birthday to steve and many more!
Hi everyone! Thanks so much for your comments! We are so blessed to have our health and a successful business in this difficult economy! And it's really pretty special that I get to spend it with my Mom and Dad every day. I'm hoping when my oldest graduates from college he'll join us. THAT would be great!
I WANT CHOCOLATE CAKE! Can you send me some via email?
Happy birthday to your dear dad!
Renee - Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it! This reminds me of a story when my uncle tried to FedEx a pheasant back from a hunting trip...don't ask! LOL
Christianne - and a belated happy birthday to your dad. I am 62, and, while I have been blogging for awhile, and am very comfortable with technology, having been using it and working on it for over 40 years, I still use index cards for some things, like my 8x8 campaigns. Your dad is not alone in that!
Mike - I will encourage him to "associate" with you on AR. He's in the process of finding his voice. I am still assisting in the inserting of pictures into his blog when he posts. He sends them to me in Microsoft Word. We are going to have an AR mini-class on "how to blog" in September in our office so I can teach both my Mom and Dad and give them some practical hands on instruction - that should help them both :-)
Christianne - he is welcome any time. Sounds like a great class to have. I presented at both our board and several times in our office.
