Carson Valley Real Estate - Carson City Homes - Lake Tahoe Real Estate

Life is Just a Day at the Beach in Northern Nevada!

On Thursday, I played hookey and went to the beach. (Actually, if you ask my husband, he'll tell you that I brought my Blackberry with me and answered emails and took phone calls but hey, what's a girl to do?!?)

We went to our favorite place at Lake Tahoe - Sand Harbor. Sand Harbor is easily accessible from Reno via SR341 (Mt. Rose Highway) or from the Carson City/Carson Valley area via Highway 50 to SR28.

There are several beaches and it's almost surreal every time I go. This time we went to the cove, not the larger beach that faces south. The crystal blue waters of Lake Tahoe, the gorgeous blue summer skies, the giggles of children with the sound of water splashing was really relaxing. And the view wasn't too shabby either!

We didn't have beachfront because we didn't get there until 11:30am, but we still got a great spot, it was only $8 to park, and we spent a relaxing afternoon at the beach!

Next time you're looking for something relaxing, fun, and mostly free in Northern Nevada, think of the beach and Lake Tahoe. Those of us that live here may take it for granted, but people travel the world over to spend time at this almost spiritual lake.

With the gaming and entertainment to keep you busy at night, and  biking, hiking, fishing, sunbathing and swimming during the day, a day trip - or a week's vacation - to Northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe is a real treat and a vacation you are sure to remember.

Come to think of it, we overheard several families who were talking about this being their vacation. I saw families with small children giving beach toys they'd purchased at the store to other families because they were flying home the next day.

I'm glad I live near Lake Tahoe. It will always hold a special place in my heart. When I lived on the east coast, I pined for the scorching beach sand and the icy cold waters - such a paradox, all the while assaulting my senses with stunning natural beauty. If you haven't been to Lake Tahoe, you should plan a trip here. Let me know - I'll show you all the best spots!
